The 2015-16 year of the Des Moines Camera Club is off to a great start! Our first meeting, held September 1 at the Johnston Lions Club, was well attended by familiar and fresh faces alike. The meeting kicked off with an Intro to the Des Moines Camera Club emceed by Jerry Ranch. Following Jerry's presentation, Charley Starnes, Superintendent of the Iowa State Fair Photography Salon, spoke. Charley's talk covered the judging process of the Iowa State Fair photography competition, the most common mistakes photographers make that keep their photos out of the fair, and comments on various DMCC members' fair-accepted entries.

The DMCC would like to thank Charley for taking time out of his busy schedule to speak with our members. Old and new members alike appreciated his insights gained from his many years of looking at and judging photographs.
