WHAT ARE THE CATEGORIES?

  • Black & White Prints (Novice, Advanced & Master Class)

  • Color Prints (Novice, Advanced & Master Class)

  • Digital Slides (Novice, Advanced & Master Class)

  • Photo Essay (Submissions accepted in April)

What are the judging criteria?
(1) TECHNIQUE
(2) COMPOSITION
(3) INTEREST  

How do you enter?
For digital competition, turn your entries in to the DMCC Digital Contest Coordinator. For print competition, turn your entries in to the DMCC Print Contest Coordinator. Club competitions are held monthly. The digital competition is held the second Tuesday of the month. The print competition is held the third Tuesday of the month. It is preferred that you turn your entries in to the Contest Coordinator the Tuesday prior to the contest date. The deadline for digital image submittal to the DMCC Digital Contest Coordinator is no later than 8:00 pm the Friday before the competition. Arrangements can be made with the DMCC Print Contest Coordinator to drop off prints by 2:00 pm the Saturday before the competition.

Why Participate?
There are many reasons to participate:

  • it gives you an opportunity to share your photographic work

  • to receive feedback and critique

  • to earn points towards DMCC photographer of the year

  • to help DMCC earn points for photographic club of the year in N4C

What are the categories?

  • 2 x 2 Pictorial Slides
    These can be any subject.  Pictorialism may be accomplished by meticulous photographic technique, proper presentation, and careful composition.
    -submissions accepted monthly

  • 2 x 2 Nature Slides
    Nature photography is intended to convey the sense of the natural world, be that fauna, flora, or geology.  No hand of man can be present.
    -submissions accepted monthly

  • 2 x 2 Photo-Travel Slides
    -submissions accepted monthly

  • Photo-Travel Prints
    Maximum size 16” x 20”

  • Black & White Pictorial Prints
    These can be any subject.  Maximum size 16” x 20”

  • Nature Prints
    Nature photography is intended to convey the sense of the natural world, be that fauna, flora, or geology.  No hand of man can be present. Maximum size 16” x 20”

  • Nature Digitals
    Nature photography is intended to convey the sense of the natural world, be that fauna, flora, or geology.  No hand of man can be present.

  • 2 –1/4 Slides
    These can be any subject.
    -submissions accepted bi-monthly

  • Color Prints
    These can be any subject. Maximum size 16” x 20”
    -submissions accepted monthly

  • Creative Prints
    These can be any subject where an experimental and creative forms of photographic expression is used.  These will include derived images, ultra-high contrast, black light, bas-relief, solarization, multi-images, trick lenses and filters, and other ways to alter the image to produce an abstract affect.  Anything goes.  Prints maximum size 16” x 20”
    -submissions accepted monthly

  • Creative Projected Images (digital and 2-1/4)
    These can be any subject where an experimental and creative forms of photographic expression is used.  These will include derived images, ultra-high contrast, black light, bas-relief, solarization, multi-images, trick lenses and filters, and other ways to alter the image to produce an abstract affect.  Anything goes.

  • Photojournalism Prints
    PJ means telling a story by the use of a picture.  An element of human interest is important. Captions are important in this category.  No mats on PJ prints.

  • Panorama Print Annual Contest

  • Slide Essay
    The slide essay can be any subject.

Turn your N4C print entries into Terry Kruse and your digital entries into Diane Darnielle.  Terry can be contacted through email at terry.kruse@mchsi.com.  Diane's email address is  dldarnie@aol.com. Please call to make drop off arrangements. It is preferable that you turn in your N4C Contest entries at the DMCC 1st meeting of the month, but other arrangements can be made.
